Job Summary:

The Category Manager will be a key contributor for executing the Trivium Procurement strategy in the area of tinplate by providing vision and leadership in all procurement related activities in a consistent manner. This position will provide leadership in the Trivium tinplate category, lead collaborative, cross-functional teams to analyse spend, develop actionable category management strategies, implement cost management strategies, proactively manage the supplier base and ensure continuity of supply.

Job Duties:

Strategy Development and Strategy Implementation

  • Contribute to the development of the overall procurement strategy and translate the procurement strategy into concrete action plans.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies based on business requirements for the tinplate category in order to ensure quality of services and improved value to Trivium and make decisions as appropriate.
  • Evaluate market and competitive conditions and use this as a basis to review category strategy and sourcing activities.
  • Implement processes for managing the supplier base, including leading periodic business reviews, monitoring and managing supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery, technology, service and leadership), managing supplier relationships, performing root cause analysis and resolution, developing and monitoring supplier improvement plans and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Manage monthly tinplate purchase orders to ensure continuity of supply and timely delivery of tinplate to the plants based on their production plans and financial targets including raw material inventory.
  • Participate in the monthly SOP cycle ensuring accurate data and executing actions coming from that.
  • Identify trends and/or issues that need improvement within the tinplate category.
  • Prepare and submit 232 tariff exemption requests as needed and provide completed questionnaires to the ITC or DOC for any potential antidumping cases.
  • Identify any potential supplier qualification opportunities and partner with R&D and the plants to carry out these qualifications.
  • Identity 3rd party coil cutting and lacquering suppliers and negotiate volumes and pricing as needed.
  • Manage contracts throughout their entire lifecycle including all changes, variations and claim management.

Negotiation

  • Enhance the relationship with suppliers in an innovative way to maximise value.
  • Actively participate in the negotiation process for North America supply, providing and analysing data, and making recommendations as necessary.

Relationship Management

  • Build strong rapport with supplier representatives.
  • Manage the supplier base across the tinplate category.
  • Provide yearly purchasing forecasts when requested by suppliers.

Financial Planning

  • Develop budgets and targets based on aggressive, well founded, realistic and forward oriented goals.
  • Ensure that financial resource allocation is cost-effective and aligned with strategic and operational plans.
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc reports and forecasts on performance against plan and provide finance with monthly tinplate purchasing forecasts by supplier in order to forecast cash flow.

Lead team member

  • To lead a team member, who is the Junior Category Specialist Tinplate NA

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in procurement in a category leadership role, preferably in manufacturing/metal packaging.
  • Strong analytical skills and strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of MRP or other related systems (knowledge of SAP is recommended).
  • Expert knowledge in end-to-end Procurement process and contract negotiations.

Work Environment:

This position will primarily work remotely or in an office environment where sitting for prolong periods of time and using a computer, telephone and other office electronics are critical. This position will occasionally travel to plant or office locations.
