The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, the owner and operator of the 241-mile toll road designated as Interstate 80, I-90 and I-76, is looking for an experienced and versatile Multimedia Communications Manager to join the award-winning Marketing and Communications (MarCom) Department at the administration building in Berea, Ohio. The ideal candidate will bring innovative storytelling and create compelling news, video, and marketing content for the commission's traditional and digital media platforms to reach both external and internal audiences.

Examples of Duties

Main Job Duties:

  • Researches and writes news articles, and produces, shoots and edits video content for traditional, digital and emerging media platforms.
  • Proactively creates news articles and blogs for positive media coverage.
  • Produces and writes editorial, feature, and video content for Customer Connection, an award-winning monthly e-newsletter.
  • Assists with producing, posting and monitoring social media content.
  • Writes executive content for the annual financial report.
  • Develops, researches and writes content for executive speeches, presentations, testimonies, media statements, talking points, employee communications and other projects as assigned.
  • Provides administrative support to the Executive Director for presentations, speaking events and other assignments.
  • Works with the MarCom Director to respond to inquiries from the news media, government agencies, customers and public.
  • Assists in planning community outreach programs, including customer appreciation events and other speaking opportunities for senior staff at other public venues.
  • Assists in creating content to market and promote the Ohio Turnpike's brand, A Better Way to Travel.
  • Writes and posts web information related to traffic conditions, lane closures, or other relevant safety information.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the MarCom Director.
  • Works cooperatively with MarCom staff to plan and complete assignments.
Major Worker Characteristics:
  • Demonstration of strong writing, video production and editing, and public speaking skills. (A portfolio with examples of published content including articles and videos is required.)
  • Knowledge of strategic communications, including public relations, marketing, and emerging communications trends.
  • Trained in video editing (Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro and iMovie or similar software) and video lighting.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and various applications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated, and able to manage projects and complete on deadline.
  • Ability to engage community members and partners.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a four-year degree in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism or Digital Media, or other relevant communications field with experience in news writing/reporting, video production/editing, public relations or public affairs.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in multimedia news techniques in the field of broadcast journalism, journalism or communications and/or related experience.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
