As a Science & Technology Color Formulator you will help identify pigmentation of automotive-grade color standards and matching those standards within the range of Refinish paint systems. Reporting to our Color Formulation Manager working on-site at our plant Cleveland, Ohio you will manage laboratory workload while maximizing resources.
Key Responsibilities
Through application of color theory, electronic tools (spectrophotometers, electronic microscopes, color software) you will identify color problems concerning pigmentation and effect pigment to match a color in Refinish paint technologies.
Manage multiple paint lines and workflow to ensure efficient throughput in the lab.
Utilize processes such as Kanban to maintain high level of lab productivity and achieve color goals.
Utilize color measurement instruments and software to ensure accurate color matching.
Align multiple Refinish paint systems in color space relative to the OE standard and other PPG paint lines. Due to several paint technologies and distribution, this process ensures color perception between products is transparent.
Increase depth of knowledge in color theory, formulation and applications techniques, new pigmentations and new paint technologies.
Develop an understanding of business and customer needs as related to the color function.
Share experience among other formulators and color formulation interns.
See color properties and develop efficient/logical methodology to adjust formulations to achieve color match.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience color matching in paint technologies.
Understanding of color theory, color perception, and color management principles.
Proficient in using color measurement instruments and software for color analysis and matching.
May supervise production color lab activities and personnel.
