JOB DESCRIPTION: CREDIT ANALYST – CASH APPLICATION
Position/Title:                         Credit Analyst - Cash Application
Exempt/Non-Exempt:         Non-Exempt
Reports to:                               Credit Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for accurate and timely processing of all incoming payments and application to the appropriate accounts. 

CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of all incoming payments.
  • Responsible for processing electronic and manual remittance transactions.
  • Ensures accurate postings of simple-to-complex payment and contractual adjustments to client accounts.
  • Responsible for reconciling cash transactions, short-payments, over-payments, third party remittances & credit card payments.
  • Responsible for processing lien waivers
  • Responsible for month end closing activity including report generation.
  • Monitor and manage all payment reports.
  • Follow up on short payments as payments are applied.
  • Applies third party billing when necessary.
  • Research and resolve unapplied cash and request approval for appropriate placement.
  • Assist in credit memo preparation.
  • Ensures proper filing and storage of sensitive information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a high school diploma.  Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, risk assessment skills, high attention to detail, resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must possess knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software; past ERP experience a plus. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the customers, account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and effective manner. Sit, walk or stand for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/ construction chemicals and solvents.
