Role Description

We are looking for a Senior EHS Engineer to further develop and support the Senior EHS Engineer program in alignment with appropriate authorities having jurisdiction and applicable ISO standards. This position will support machine and equipment safety across all of our locations while being stationed at the Weirton WV Form Factory 1 / Eighty Four PA Pilot Manufacturing Plant location/s, with up to 10% travel to MA/ CA locations. A self-starter, you will proactively mitigate new hazards and roll up your sleeves to quickly respond to critical situations in the most effective and efficient manner. Taking a collaborative approach, you'll work closely with all teams to provide a great and safe place to work. What you'll do:
  • Defining company-wide safety guidelines for the following and ensure equipment meets said guidelines: robot safety/PLC safety/LOTO practices/Laser safety/Lifting devices/conveyor speeds/guarding/equipment isolation requirements

  • Robot safety/plc safety/LOTO practices/Laser safety/Ergonomics/Machine guarding/EHS design reviews

  • Identifying / assessing risk during the design review and PFMEA

  • Reviewing equipment and testing safety devices

  • Develop and maintain lists by site of EHS critical equipment to ensure proper PM schedule

  • Recommending safety mitigations based on acquired experience

  • Consult on risk mitigation tools and participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews

  • Perform various and regular safety inspections of the facility and key equipment

  • Support SAT/ FAT specifications development

What you'll bring:
  • 5+ years experience supporting pilot manufacturing R&D, Manufacturing or Engineering functions

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in evaluating safety-related control systems according to ISO13849, ISO 12100 and other applicable regulations

  • Proven results working with: Robot safety/PLC safety/LOTO practices/Laser safety/Ergonomics/Machine Guarding/EHS design reviews

  • Extensive knowledge of hazards around manufacturing tooling

  • Advanced degree in Safety, Chemistry, or Engineering preferred

  • ASP/CSP/CHMM/CMSE or similar safety certifications preferred
