Job Description

General Purpose of the Job:

Provides total support to the users of SAP application system and ancillary software tools, including package installation, configuration, enhancements & process improvements, problem resolution, training and education, report development. The position focuses on a specific functional area(s) of the company, which in this case is FI/CO - Finance and Controlling with emphasis on SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR). The scope of responsibility is for Tremco Americas operations all business, all locations. Nurtures and insures the successful use of the application systems tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides overall direction in the implementation of new SAP modules and new releases of the SAP application software, as well as 3rd party software tools.
  • Provides 2nd level help desk support. Trains and assists users in the use of SAP business application software. Prepares training materials, schedules and conducts application system training as needed. Audience may be other IT staff or end-user staff. Performs cost vs. benefit analysis to determine rational for application system development and enhancements.
  • Acts as liaison to the software vendors and other users of the software. Is actively involved in software and/or functional user groups users.
  • Performs systems analysis, design, configuration, and programming tasks related to enhancements, interfaces, data conversion and special reporting requirements, etc.
  • Advises users as to the applicability of various alternatives to meet the specified requirements, such as: SAP baseline functionality & reporting, specialized configuration, extracts to PC-based analysis tools, custom report-writing and report development, complimentary software packages, and or changes to business processes.
  • Designs and assists users in the design and documentation of business processes and procedures, the development of training materials, and the delivery of training, etc.
  • Performs thorough testing of all new and revised system functions and reports, performs quality assurance reviews of procedural documentation and training materials.
  • Acts as a team leader or group leader for projects / tasks established in each functional area, such as: sales & distribution, finance & accounting, or manufacturing.
  • Organizes and leads various user group forums to address issue management, to field & manage enhancements requests, and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas among users within a given functional area of the business operation.

Additional Job Functions: (Other Less Critical Job Activities)

  • Project management task and administration. Maintains work plans, tracks effort and progress vs. plan for small to medium scale projects and provides appropriate status information regarding projects.
  • Coordinates / directs the activities of project teams to accomplish the goals of a project. Team members may be other IT staff, as well as end-user staff.
  • Supervises contract consultants, programmers, and part-time clerical assistance, as needed.
  • Technical. Provides secondary support for the technical hardware and communications platforms used to support application systems: would include log in's, printing, security, etc. Would act as a liaison between end-users and the IT technical group.
  • Note: Other duties may be assigned, as required, based.

Education and/or Experience:

Formal Education Required:

  • College or University degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
  • SAP Certification in RAR and related discipline or equivalent training

Practical Work Experience Required:

  • 3-5+ years of leadership experience: manager, supervisor, group lead, etc.
  • 5+ years experience in a SR Accounting Role
  • 7+ years of SAP implementation experience is preferred.
  • 3+ years of implementing/working with RAR in S/4HANA
  • 3+ Years SAP Super User in related discipline.
  • Strong customer service skills and orientation. High degree of flexibility in interface with customers / constituents.
  • 2 years experience in project management skills.
  • Ability to distinguish, learn and accept differences in business and end-user requirements.
  • Ability to learn and expand technical knowledge and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with effective and cycle time sensitive time management and project management skills.
  • Read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
  • Additional language skills are an asset (German, French, Polish, etc.)
  • Note: some of the experiences and time frames may overlap.

Special Knowledge and Skill:

General knowledge and understanding of business operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of a specific functional area of business operations (manufacturing, finance & accounting, sales & distribution, etc.).
  • In depth knowledge of the SAP application software, including its functions & capabilities, configuration, reporting and support requirements.
  • Proficiency in analysis, design, and testing techniques.
  • Good project management skills, including planning, methodologies, time tracking, leadership, etc.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the following computing platforms: Primary focus on HP Unix, PC-Desktop and PC-LAN computing platforms.
  • Proficiency with various report development tools, SAP Report Writer, SAP Script, other report writers or query tools, etc.
  • Basic understanding of IT communications networks.

Analytical Abilities:

  • Requires a high level of analytical ability and creativity to develop effective and cost-efficient business solutions, through the deployment of IT.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Must be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

  • Must be highly skilled in the use of personal computers. This includes, PC operation, printing, file management, and the ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and Internet tools, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the following computing platforms: Primary focus on HP Unix, PC-Desktop and PC-LAN computing platforms.
  • Working knowledge of the following databases: Primary focus on SAP/Oracle, with experience a PC-based DB tool such as Paradox, Access, etc.
  • Proficiency with various report development tools, SAP Report Writer, SAP Script, other report writers or query tools, etc.
  • Basic understanding of IT communications networks.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

SAP or other Certifications would be an asset.

Other Qualifications:

  • In-Depth knowledge of Business Rule Framework plus (BRFplus) is preferred
  • In-depth experience with both costing-based and account-based COPA would be an asset

  • Work remotely 90% of the time; may be called in to corporate office from time to time for project meetings.

  • Eye strain could be a problem due to extensive use of a CRT monitor.

The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $99,000 and $124,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
