Acara Solutions has been providing staffing industry services to aerospace fims throughout the country for 65 years. Our national/international aerospace client is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their plant in Elyria, OH (west of Cleveland). This is a salaried direct hire position with full benefits.
This is a new add-on position that is hands-on 75% of the time on the fabrication floor working with 9 other manufacturing engineers on the team. There is considerable automation on the floor with co-bots, ATE, barcode scanners, etc. Products are jet engine lubrication pumps for both military and commercial aircraft.
The Manufacturing Engineer performs complex and varied work to develop and recommend improvements in the Manufacturing system and in product manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
- Mentor's the team and more junior ME's, providing training and coaching whenever possible.
- Lead interdisciplinary teams on assigned projects.
- Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, flow, fixtures and tooling as needed to support production.
- Investigate, recommend, and implement manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs.
- Identify root cause and corrective actions for manufacturing problem.
- Participate in customer specification and statement of work reviews.
- Participate in the review and evaluation of new product designs or design changes.
- Review and analyze design change request initiated by manufacturing personnel to determine feasibility, validity, savings, effect on design, and verify justification for change.
- Evaluate, test and select facilities, equipment and materials required for production in conjunction with production supervision, purchasing and other groups.
- Perform a variety of cost analyses, e.g., cost estimates for quotations or "make or buy" decisions.
- Develop manufacturing operating instructions.
- Develop and track manufacturing metrics to monitor the health of processes.
- Evaluate non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board
- Direct work activities of production operators to aid in problem solving.
- Develop procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications.
- Coordinate with vendors and customers
- Ability to identify and prioritize work with limited input from manager.
- Able to develop ROI or business case and present to management in the support of capital equipment, new product or process development and productivity improvements.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science degree
Min 5 years of aerospace or automotive manufacturing experience
Min 2 years of CNC machine programming experience (Unigraphics and/or Mastercam and/or g-code)
Min 3 years of CI and/or LEAN and/or Six Sigma experience
Min 1 year of new product introduction (NPI) experience
This is an ITAR facility, U.S. Persons Required
Preferred:
Six Sigma Belt
EDM, assembly/test nice to have
AutoCAD/Creo exp nice to have
Project Management skills a plus
Experience in aerospace or other highly regulated environment
g-code
automation or machining experience
