As an Application Engineer, you will create effective SPIROL solutions for complex customer problems, delivering customer satisfaction and driving SPIROL Sales growth. You will work closely with Sales to understand the customer's technical needs, design the optimal SPIROL solution, and explain its value to the customer. You will also align the customer's requirements (specifications, cost, assembly, quality levels, etc.) with SPIROL's product vision and production capabilities, resulting in a win-win outcome for both SPIROL and the customer. Without transferring account management or primary customer contact from Sales, you will have direct customer interaction to support the solution selling process, educate customers on SPIROL's products and make recommendations on best fit between SPIROL's products and the customer's application to drive the best value.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, document, and communicate technical solutions that enhance SPIROL's brand and offer value to the customer.
  • When appropriate, participate with Sales on exploratory calls with customers to determine the technical elements of the application to ensure a timely and high-quality technical response to the customer.
  • Optimize SPIROL's manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness by designing solutions that complement our production, vision and expertise.
  • Drive SPIROL's APQP process, leading elements such as product design, process flow, FMEA, product testing, and team feasibility studies to ensure successful launch of new items.
  • Constantly evaluate and examine applications, identifying trends which could suggest opportunities for new product development in a standardized approach.
  • Lead engineering activities to support the creation of new product series through SPIROL's new product development (NPD) process.
  • Write technical application stories, technical white papers and conduct technical seminars and training sessions.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A technical degree (preferably a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering), with sufficient demonstrated technical capability.
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience, or relevant Intern experience, in a manufacturing environment related to the development, design, assembly and testing of fasteners, mechanical equipment or production methods.
    • Additional experience with manufacturing, machining processes and design for manufacturing (DFM) concepts is preferred.
    • Experience in a quality-oriented industry such as automotive, aerospace, medical, or defense is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD as well as office automation software and systems.
  • Strong background in design for manufacturing in a 0 ppm environment.
