Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the daily duties of the Pharmacy Technician staff under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager. These responsibilities include: coordinating the daily technical functions of the Department, assisting in developing and implementing procedures, quality assurance, interviewing and selection of technical staff, preparation of technician work schedules, technician staffing adjustments and assignments, monitoring of time and attendance for technical staff, overseeing charging and billing, assist in developing and implementation of process improvement and safety initiatives, and oversee training and orientation of new employees. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor also is responsible for performing all the functions of the Technician staff.

Essential Functions

  • Performs the preparation of patient medications including sterile products, chemotherapy, unit dose, cartfills, TPN, narcotics accurately and timely.
  • Triages medication/patient care related and daily operational issues
  • Serves as a mentor and develop role models for technical staff
  • Integrates and coordinates process improvement and safety initiatives
  • Prepares and maintains documentation as required by the State Board of Pharmacy, Department, Hospital, and accrediting organizations including but not limited to licensures, on boarding, document specific job competencies, Isensix reports.
  • Coordination and scheduling of Technical staff.
  • Requests and assists in the maintenance of required supplies for daily operations
  • Reviews automated dispensing reports and perform quality audits with procedural areas monthly and as needed
  • Effectively address electronic billing and charging issues.
  • Provides regular feedback on employee performance and coordinates corrective actions
  • Monitor time and attendance for technical staff
  • Promotes teamwork by assisting in all other departmental needs
