Senior Technical Accountant

The Senior Technical Accountant is a key member of our growing Finance team. The Senior Technical Accountant is driven and highly skilled in performing technical accounting research, providing guidance on International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS" / United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("US GAAP")-compliant policies/processes, and technical writing. This individual is a leader within the organization and is required to have strong, senior-level knowledge and experience in enhancing accounting, finance, and reporting processes. In this role, the ideal candidate will collaborate with global teammates and cross-functional teams, assist with monthly closings and account analysis. In addition, this position reports to the Global Controller and assists with end-to-end operational finance processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Global Controller and Corporate Finance team on documenting technical accounting matters including but not limited to debt modifications/extinguishments, balance sheet classification, derivatives, segment reporting, revenue recognition, annual impairment testing goodwill, long-live assets, intangibles, and accounting for stock compensation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e., US GAAP, IFRS,), rules, regulations,
  • Oversee lease accounting and ASC 842 compliance in the recording and reconciliation of ROU assets, liabilities, and lease expense including the administration of the lease accounting software.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions and support the review process with Global Controller, Chief Financial Officer, and external auditors.
  • This role will also support preparation of reports on material technical accounting content to the audit committee and to share with the senior leadership team.
  • Support the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Supporting Global Tax Director on various technical accounting matters including, tax step-up transactions, tax sharing arrangements, valuation allowance considerations, uncertain tax positions, and return-to-provision adjustments.
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly financial reports to the parent company on a IFRS basis and any related footnotes for the annual US GAAP financial statements.
  • Complete the annual US GAAP disclosure checklist.
  • Recommend updates to company accounting policies.
  • Own multiple areas of the financial close and reporting process from end-to-end; calculate and record journal entries, obtain and review required supporting documentation, and perform account reconciliations.
  • Ensure accounting records are complete and accurate by incorporating checks/balances into everyday tasks, performing frequent trend/variance analyses across all relevant general ledger accounts, and investigating and resolving discrepancies timely.
  • Develop and document business processes and related controls, including flowcharts as needed.
  • Assist in the daily activities of accounting and financial operations.
  • Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Assist with annual external audit, including preparation of audit request items and schedules.

Basic Qualifications:

  • CPA certification with an active license
  • Master's degree in accounting
  • 4+ years of experience in a public accounting firm, big 4 public or Tier 2 public experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lease Accounting under GAAP, ASC 842
  • Experience in LeaseQuery or other lease accounting system, preferred.
  • Outstanding analytical abilities and communication skills
  • Results-driven individual
  • Initiative and creativity in finding process improvements
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to quickly learn other software applications necessary to complete daily tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Foreign Currency revaluation and translation experience, global company experience
  • OneStream or Hyperion HFM or FDM knowledge
  • SAP ERP experience
  • Blackline experience
  • SEC Reporting experience
  • Manufacturing Industry experience
