Essential Functions
  • Schedules and coordinates all obstetric needs for pregnant patients including genetic testing. Keeps statistics up to date and accurate for full service, and promotes the collaborative care model for all Westshore Primary Care OB/GYN locations.
  • Schedules all new OB patients and collects insurance information to send to the medical receptionist specializing in billing/benefits, to prepare an Obstetric Agreement prior to the patient's 1st OB appointment.
  • Maintains a schedule 4/5 days a week to see OB patients following their first prenatal appointment
  • Responsible for reviewing the following at the "OB Navigator" appointment

    * OB folder contents

    * Distributes OB prenatal samples

    * OB Financial Agreement and practice expectation for payment

    * OB class schedules - register patient when possible

    * Ways to contact the office

    * "Collaborative Care" approach by the providers

    * Pediatrician needs: schedule when applicable

    * Reviews and schedules genetic testing: if applicable

    * Schedules OB u/s for dating or other clinical indications when needed

    * Discusses and handles FMLA and STD paperwork

    * Schedules the following three prenatal appointments based on practice guidelines, then preference

  • Trains new Medical Assistants to be able to run a midwifery clinic
  • OB Triage Calls
  • Maintains birth data for all providers by utilizing Birthtracks
  • Maintains samples in suite 250
  • Fills in when needed in office both clerically and clinically
  • Responsible for keeping current and ordering media related to the practice for OB purposes; will also be responsible for assembling "new" OB folders
  • Listens courteously and responds to patient questions, concerns, and/or refers to the appropriate individual.
  • Meets weekly with practice supervisor to review items that need to addressed
  • Other duties as assigned
