The Department of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is recruitingfor two full-time faculty positions at the level of Instructor to expand its vibrant researchprogram in neurodegenerative diseases. Candidates must have outstanding researchqualifications in the area of neurodegeneration with a focus in Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson's disease or other age-related neurodegenerative diseases. The successfulcandidate must hold a PhD in biology, or other disciplines related to cell or molecularbiology and have competitive research qualifications with strong publications anddevelopment of plans that indicate potential for external grant funding in the near future.The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in neuroscience and RNAbiology, particularly in the area of neurodegeneration using cell and animal models.Candidates should be proficient in mouse behavioral tests (memory function, motorfunction and anxiety/depression-like tests), rodent brain stereotactic injection, RNA/DNAtechniques, histology techniques, protein chemistry, immunocytochemistry, lentivirus/AAV production, general cell and molecular biology techniques and imagingtechniques (confocal microscopy, electron microscopy and fluorescence). Applicantsmust also have experience working with multiple models of neurodegenerative diseasessuch as mouse models for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. We especiallyencourage applicants who have training and/or experience in mitochondrial function andmRNA metabolism.

The individual chosen for this position will be encouraged to develop an externalresearch funding to support his or her research, will be expected to collaborate withmembers of the Department in their own research activities to the extent that this isbeneficial to the individual and the existing faculty, and will be expected to participate inacademic and service functions of the Department.
