As a Legal Counsel IP Director, supporting the Vision Care Franchiseyou will be trusted to work on ophthalmic materials from our Fort Worth, TX location.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborating with internal clients, including senior management, on patentability, enforcement, validity, freedom-to-operate, and IP strategy.

  • Identifying and leading IP opportunities and risks related to new product development.

  • Leading and supporting IP collection projects, patent committees, and training sessions.

  • Mining for, preparing, and prosecuting patent applications.

  • Providing legal counsel and support for BD&L, litigation, and development activities.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

  • 10 Years of Validated Experience, 5 years confirmed ability prosecuting and handling patent matters.

  • Member of a state bar in good standing.

  • Registered to practice before the United State Patent and Trademark Office.

  • Expertise in patent laws and procedures (including IPRs and Oppositions before the EPO), patent scope analysis, patent drafting and prosecution, and patent portfolio strategy.
