Job Title: Furniture Technician I

Job Summary: The Furniture Technician will assist in all aspects of moves within the Goodyear Campus and fill out all documents associated. Set up and tear down for events throughout the campus. Track furniture inventory use associated with furniture moved and events.

Job Location: Akron, Ohio

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Move Furniture and Etc..
  • Prepare and deliver boxes
  • Prepare and deliver boxes
  • Inspect furniture and repair in-house when feasible
  • Move boxes and furniture campus-wide
  • Occasional moves to other sites and locations
  • Clean furniture and apply fabric protection
  • Provide keys (note: Security cuts all keys)
  • Limited reconditioning of free-standing furniture
  • Minor modular furniture modifications (relocate shelf units)
  • Coordinate outside vendors
  • Scrap obsolete furniture
  • Oversee work orders and hours report for billing
  • Maintain shop
  • Prepare boxes for moves
  • Inventory counts
  • Clean used furniture equipment
  • Event Set Up & Tear Down

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Strong Customer Service background and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to lift min. 50 lbs
  • Customer Services Oriented - interfaces with clients

Compentencies:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions.
  • Must be trained and certified to operate a fork truck
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must demonstrate and exhibit mechanical aptitude, a positive interest, be self-directed and work effectively with all facility groups.
  • Must operate a fork lift and other powered and non-powered equipment.
  • Must be able to perform tasks on a ladder.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervision.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required lift 50 lbs or more, lift, push, and pull., This role requires the ability to walk 4+ miles per day within campus.

Work Environment:

Able to take verbal and written instructions, and able to carry out any other responsibility assigned by management and client.

Must be able to follow written procedures. Trainings, and emergency procedures.

Able to arrive on time for work
