Job Summary

Full time opportunities are available in our production department. Associates will support the set up and operation of equipment which blends / mixes / packages / transports liquid or dry chemicals that comprise our customer products. It is critical to ensure the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Avient Corporation policies and procedures, and this role will help to ensure this.

Essential Functions

  • Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts into machinery, or ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and inserts pre-blended materials into machinery.
  • Supports Production Operators as they run machinery to mix, extrude, or handle materials according to operating procedures.
  • Supports Production Operators in packaging finished products and using pallet jacks, drum dollies, or carts to move finished goods to proper storage locations.
  • Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
  • Refers issues / problems to Lead or Shift Supervisor for disposition.
  • Supports all required machine cleaning.
  • Participates in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Separates customer orders. Pulls and stages orders. Repacks material if required to meet customer specifications.
  • As required, makes boxes, packs, labels and locates materials.
  • Ensures all products are properly labeled.
  • May perform functions/transactions in SAP
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma (or GED) preferred, educational requirements may be offset with proven success in a substantially similar role and requisite years of business experience.
  • 1+ years related experience and/or training
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Computer knowledge
  • Experience with blending equipment and twin-screw extruders
  • SAP experience a plus

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the operator is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to walk. The associate is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 55 lbs. Specific vision abilities may be required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the operator is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and exposure to some fumes from plastic compounding and some dust; hot or cold ambient work environment (Seasonal); standing on concrete floor; use of respirator required when exposed to dust or off-gassing. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office noise levels to loud.
